Selected to Go Immersive in Venice

January 12 – 18, 2024

My producer Melanie Coombs and I were thrilled to be one of twelve international teams selected for the 2024 Venice Biennale College Cinema – Immersive. In January 2024 we flew to Venice and took a water taxi over to San Servolo Island where we were housed in an old monastery/asylum for 7 days. Both of us felt overwhelmed to start but by the end we had enough to launch development of Earths to Come in VR and dome!

The Biennale College Cinema – Immersive (BCC-I) is a programme developed by La Biennale di Venezia to explore immersive media as a new art form. The College Immersive is an advanced training laboratory open to selected international teams of director and producer. It’s a unique opportunity for creative professionals to receive training, project development, production support and festival presentation insights from pros through a series of workshops. We found BCC-I to be a creative community that provided us an opportunity to come together and learn from interesting peers as well as to work with an invited team of international experts and tutors.
